In its simplicity, it is elegant

A candle, so small, so beautiful,
so genuine, so mysterious.
The light is lit by another fire
slowly it takes life,
the flame begins to flicker.

The light casts shadows in the darkness,
it cares for, warms, and comforts.

In its simplicity, it is elegant,
the hope it gives those standing in the dark.

The flame looks like a dance,
the glow enchants and instills peace in the soul.

It smells good,
it spreads a feeling of tenderness.
it becomes a symbol of hope and unity.

The candle is vulnerable
when the wind blows hard.

Or when it blows lightly.

The melted wax is hot.
Anyone who wants to put their hand in it,
gets burned.

If you wait too long,
it becomes cold.

But do not judge the cold wax.
In its solid form, it carries a history of warmth.

The little light could have become bigger,
by lighting more candles.

The fire could have warmed many more.
The scent could have spread to the horizon.

But you had to blow out the candle.

And now we both sit in the darkness.
